Iga Świątek has done something great! Absolute madness

Iga Świątek has done something great! Absolute madness

On Monday evening (July 7), Iga Świątek equaled her best result in her career, looking back at her achievements on the grass at Wimbledon. The Pole defeated Clara Tauson in two sets (6:4, 6:1) , securing her promotion to the best "eight" of the legendary tournament in London.

Wimbledon: Iga Świątek makes Grand Slam history!

Świątek has not yet had the opportunity to celebrate after winning any finals in the 2025 season. The closest the Pole got to happiness was in the last attempt before Wimbledon, during the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg. Ultimately, Jessica Pegula proved better in the final match in Germany.

However, the American was eliminated in the first round at Wimbledon, and the Pole is already in the quarterfinals and it seems that this will not be her last word. Świątek has recorded her third promotion to the best "eight" of the Grand Slam tournament this season. What's more, the Pole reached the semifinals in Melbourne (Australian Open) and Paris (Roland Garros). The fact is that in her career, it has never happened that in each of the aforementioned Grand Slam challenges, looking at one season, she entered the quarterfinals.

But that's not all. The Pole, who is only 24 years old, has just reached her 12th quarterfinal of a Grand Slam tournament. Looking at the metrics, Świątek is the youngest such case since the legendary Maria Sharapova. The Russian achieved this feat when she entered the "quarter" of the 2008 Australian Open. Such statistical curiosities, in which the Pole erases subsequent records or equals giants of world tennis, only emphasize how big a person Świątek already is.

And there are still many years of career ahead for the Polish woman on the horizon.

In the quarterfinals, the Pole's opponent will be Ludmila Samsonova. Świątek's match with the Russian, number 19 in the WTA rankings, will take place next Wednesday.
