PSG and Botafogo advance. Atletico eliminated from the Champions League!

Paris Saint-Germain and Botafogo advanced from Group B to the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, which is ongoing in the United States. The Parisians defeated the Seattle Sounders 2-0 on Monday, while the Brazilian team was not hindered by a 0-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
The Champions League winners crushed Atletico 4-0 in the tournament's opening match in the USA, but a 1-0 defeat to Botafogo meant they had to fight until the last round to advance to the knockout stage.
In the parallel match in Pasadena, the Brazilians needed a draw or even a loss by no more than two goals to advance. Coach Diego Simeone's team managed to score only one goal - by Frenchman Antoine Griezmann in the 87th minute.
In Group B, the top three teams had 6 points each, and the order in the table was decided by goal difference. PSG had the best (6-1), ahead of Botafogo (3-2) and Atletico (4-5). The American team did not win a single point.
The Club World Cup is being held in this format for the first time. 32 teams are playing in 12 stadiums in 11 American cities, divided into eight groups of four.
The group stage will last until June 26. The top two teams in each group will advance to the 1/8 finals and from then on will compete in a knockout format. The final will be held on July 13 in New Jersey.
