Fluminense Rio de Janeiro defeated Inter Milan 2-0 (1-0) in the 1/8 finals of the Club World Cup held in the USA. The quarter-final opponent of the Brazilian team will be determined by the match between Manchester City and Saudi Al Hilal, which will be played at night.

The injured Piotr Zieliński was sent back to Italy and could not play for the Milan team, while Nicola Zalewski watched his teammates play from the bench.

The match in Charlotte started perfectly for Fluminense, as German Cano beat the Inter goalkeeper in the 3rd minute. In the 40th minute, Ignacio put the ball into the Milanese net, but after VAR intervention, the goal was disallowed due to offside.

After the break, Inter tried to equalize, they had the initiative and a big advantage in possession, but they didn't score. Stefan de Vrij came close to equalizing in the 69th minute, but narrowly missed. Lautaro Martinez also missed several good opportunities. The result was set in the third minute of added time by Hercules.

This is the first time that the Club World Cup has been held in this format, at 12 stadiums in 11 American cities. The group stage, which ended on Thursday, featured 32 teams, half of which advanced to the 1/8 finals.

The final will be held on July 13 at the stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
