Sensation at the World Cup! PSG lost to a South American team

Paris Saint-Germain lost to Brazilian Botafogo 0-1 in Group B of the Club World Cup, which is ongoing in the USA. In the other match of this group, Atletico Madrid defeated Seattle Sounders 3-1.

Botafogo's victory at the Pasadena stadium was decided by Igor Jesus' goal in the 36th minute.

PSG played brilliantly last season. The Parisians easily won the national championship and the Champions League. In the opening match of the Champions League, they crushed Atiletico 4-0. In this match, coach Luis Enrique's team played weaker.

In Seattle, Pablo Barrios scored two goals for Atletico, with Belgian Axel Witsel adding one. The honorary goal for the hosts was scored by Slovak Albert Rusnak.

Botafogo leads Group B with six points, while PSG and Atletico have three each, and the American team is last without a point.

The Club World Cup is being held in this format for the first time. 32 teams are playing in 12 stadiums in 11 American cities, divided into eight groups of four.

The group stage will last until June 26. The top two teams in each group will advance to the 1/8 finals and from then on will compete in a knockout format. The final will be held on July 13 in New Jersey.
