The welcome to Europe of Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski after his return from the International Space Station will take place no earlier than July 14, the Polish Space Agency announced. The ceremony will take place in Cologne, Germany, where the European Astronaut Centre ESA is located.
"The ceremony will take place no earlier than July 14, 2025. The date is not yet confirmed and depends on the undocking of the Dragon ship," POLSA said.
Immediately after arrival, Uznański-Wiśniewski will be taken to the European Space Agency’s European Astronaut Centre (EAC) and the German Aeronautics and Space Centre’s (DLR) Envihab facility, which is a key centre for medical monitoring and rehabilitation after missions.
"The ESA space medicine team, consisting of ESA operating physicians, physiotherapists and sports trainers, will monitor Sławosz during his return to Earth's gravity thanks to a special regeneration programme," POLSA reported.
Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski is an ESA project astronaut.
The Ax-4 mission, in which the Pole is a participant, began on June 25. A day later, on June 26, the Dragon capsule with astronauts on board docked with the International Space Station (ISS).
Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski's task is to perform 13 experiments prepared by Polish scientists and companies and 30 educational and popular science shows. There were also connections with local shortwave operators. The astronaut "met" four times, through live connections, with children and youth - in Łódź, Wrocław, Rzeszów and on Tuesday, July 8 in Warsaw.
In a report summarizing 11 days on the ISS, published on the night from Monday to Tuesday, POLSA reported that the current status of the implementation of the basic mission goals is 82.6 percent. (PAP)
