Cortelha offers the best gastronomy of the Serra do Caldeirão in the "Manjares Serranos"

At this event, all visitors can sample and taste dishes that are typical of the interior of the municipality of Loulé, such as Jantarinho de Grão (Little Chickpea Dinner), Galo Guisado (Grooster Stew with Potatoes) or the famous Papas de Milho (Corn Porridge), among other delicacies.
The "Manjares Serranos" are the most genuine example of the knowledge and flavors of the interior of the municipality of Loulé, achieving a prominent place over the years and establishing themselves as a true meeting of the different delicacies and dishes that are the identity of the gastronomy of Serra do Caldeirão.
Filipe Jesus, president of the Friends of Cortelha Association, extends the invitation: "Another year and another edition of the Manjares Serranos da Cortelha, which we are very proud to offer to all who visit us, the opportunity to taste the best gastronomy of the Algarve and to be able to bring many outsiders and visitors to the interior of the municipality, which is why I would like to see a full house again on August 2nd and don't forget, free entry."
The manager leads a large team of volunteers who, with dedication, transform the local pavilion into a veritable and large tavern serving the best snacks.
On August 2nd, the "Manjares Serranos" will treat all visitors to a vast mountain menu, including Rooster Stew with Potatoes, Oven-Roasted Wild Boar, Lamb Stew, Chickpea Dinner and the famous Corn Porridge.
For those who just want to enjoy a mountain tapa, you can choose between Fresh Cheese, Ear or Black Pig Chorizo from Serra do Caldeirão, or a sweet Filhó Serrana and a “calço” of Medronho Brandy.
The «Taberna dos Manjares Serranos» opens at 6:00 pm, and traditional Portuguese music will begin to be heard in the venue when, at 7:30 pm, the Group «Brasa Doirada» takes to the stage.
At 8:30 pm, the Baile Serrano will take place with Telma Santos and Nelson Duarte and, at 9:00 pm, the start of the Folklore Festival of the Serra do Caldeirão Ethnographic Group, which will have as guests the Gáfete Folklore Ranch, from Crato and the Alcanhões Folklore Ranch, from Santarém, representing the traditions of Alto Alentejo and Ribatejo.
The Cortelha Pavilion is preparing to host another edition of the «Manjares Serranos», with free entry and plenty of gastronomy, entertainment and crafts, in yet another organization by the Friends of Cortelha Association , with the support of the Loulé Municipal Council and the Salir Parish Council .
