D. Dinis Prize for Carlos Ascenso André and J. Rentes de Carvalho

The jury of the D. Diniz Prize, composed of Fernando Pinto do Amaral (president), Pedro Mexia and Mário Cláudio, distinguished, among the works published in 2023, Carlos Ascenso André for his translation of The Art of Loving, by Ovid (Quetzal) and, among the works published in 2024, J. Rentes de Carvalho, for his work Cravos e Ferraduras (Quetzal).
The new version of Ovid's The Art of Love stands out as the first Portuguese translation made directly from the Latin original and published in a bilingual edition. This work is part of a notable editorial movement returning to the classics, revealing to the contemporary reader the full richness and complexity of the verb "to love," as conceived by Ovid, from seduction to transgression, from freedom to obsession, from pleasure to satire.

At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it's not free; journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way to directly support A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It means continuing to inform despite all contingencies; we never stop for a single day.
