Lagos has a new graphic identity

The presentation to the public took place the day before, at the Auditorium Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI, with the event being attended by the public and employees of the municipality. After the teasing and presentation phase, the new logo will be implemented in phases.

“There is undoubtedly something special and almost magnetic that attracts people to Lagos. Adored by its inhabitants and visitors, it has long been associated with the Portuguese Discoveries and immortalized in the poems of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen,” the municipality said in a note sent to newsrooms.

This was the starting point for the creation of the new graphic identity. As Lagos is “a municipality of constant discovery, the introduction of the expression of discoveries reinforces the various aspects that make it so unique – the beaches and nature, the culture and art, the history and heritage, the tradition and gastronomy, but also the commitment to areas such as entrepreneurship, sustainability and community spirit”.

Over time, “Lagos has been both traditional and innovative, represented by a strong brand that is now being renewed. After all, promoting the quality of life of its citizens also involves reinventing itself to keep up with new times and ways of communicating with the world and, in particular, with all those who are part of its history – past, present and future; from the oldest and wisest generations to the youngest and most adventurous.”

More than a contemporary graphic identity that follows the evolution of the municipality, the new logo “reflects its values, starting with being distinctive and solid. In visual terms, it is inspired by its magnetism and its relationship with the sea, that giant of nature”.

As for the image of the advertising campaign, “it not only focuses on the simplicity of the new identity but also gives due prominence to emblematic areas, namely Praça do Infante, Praça dos Combatentes, Praia da Luz and Praia dos Estudantes. In 2025, a new chapter in the history of Lagos begins, a municipality that has always been special”.
