This year's edition of the Granfondo Serra da Estrela has its epicenter in Manteigas

The 10th edition of the Granfondo Serra da Estrela will have its official start at 8.30 am on June 29, 2025 (Sunday), in Manteigas , ending at the same place as the start.

It is a cycling tourism event in which participants ride at their own pace along the entire length of the route, although they are timed, by electronic means (chip), for the time it takes them to complete the entire route or certain segments announced before the event by the organization.

The Granfondo Serra da Estrela is a cycle tourism event, which complies with the regulations of the Portuguese Cycling Federation as an Open Event and the UCI regulations for Open Events, and is therefore subject to the principles set out in these same regulations. It is an event open to all cyclists, cycle athletes and cycle tourists, whether federated or not, of both sexes and over 19 years old for the Granfondo distance and 17 years old for the Mediofondo distance.

Only two-wheeled vehicles (road bike, off-road bike, tandem) without any type of motorization are permitted in the event.

The use of an approved cycling helmet is mandatory. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate exclusion from the race.

Participation in the event is the responsibility of each participant, assuming all risks inherent to their participation.

To participate, athletes must have their license up to date (on the date of registration) as a member of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, in the competition or cycling for all classes. Non-federated athletes must subscribe to the one-day license made available by the Portuguese Cycling Federation.

Athletes are responsible for their registration and participation in the Granfondo Serra da Estrela, aware that this is a physically demanding event, requiring adequate preparation and good physical condition. It is recommended that each athlete undergoes an appropriate medical examination before participating in this event.

The Granfondo Serra da Estrela offers the opportunity for all cycling enthusiasts and practitioners to experience the emotions and challenges of high mountain stages in the only destination with these characteristics in Portugal.

The town of Manteigas will host this 10th edition, where the entire headquarters of this event will be located. The city of Seia will be another important landmark of this challenge, framing the passage of all participants, before traveling through the spectacular southern area of ​​Serra da Estrela.

The Granfondo Serra da Estrela takes place entirely in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, visiting some of the most emblematic places and landscapes of this protected area. Thus, the effort of overcoming the longest climbs found in Portugal will certainly be compensated by the environment and the images of the only high mountain scenery in our country.

Athletes who do not wish to face the greatest challenge can opt for the Mediofondo, which is a great option for those who want to have their first experience conquering the Serra da Estrela.
