Scorpions continue to be loved and sell out the first day of Marés Vivas

With a career spanning 60 years, the German band Scorpions continue to win over generations and be loved, as their song "Still Loving You" says, selling out the first day of the Marés Vivas festival in Gaia. The Marés Vivas Festival venue opened at 4:00 pm and the first festival-goers rushed in to secure a front row seat and see the German rock band up close, for the most part. In a less hurry, over the following hours, thousands entered and gradually filled the venue, on a day that was sold out. Those who entered more calmly, taking the opportunity to explore the corners of the venue and win hats, pens and glasses that the different brands present at the event are giving away, also have, like those who entered in race mode, as their main motivation, watching the Scorpions perform. And it was the German band that took Ricardo França, 46, and Armando Ferreira, 45, from Oliveira de Azeméis to Vila Nova de Gaia. The two friends, who are attending Marés Vivas for the first time, bought tickets for the first day because it was dedicated to rock, a style of music they share a taste for. “It’s a spectacular rock atmosphere, the atmosphere is really something,” they said in unison. Although they were eagerly awaiting the headliners' performance, which starts at 11pm, Hybrid Theory, a Portuguese Linkin Park tribute band, who opened the main stage, also captivated them. Further ahead, Pedro Silva, who jokingly confided that he had come thanks to his girlfriend, who he was with, also expressed great curiosity to see the tribute band. But, he said, the main attraction is the Scorpions, an opinion shared by his girlfriend, Catarina Costa, from São João da Madeira, who praised the organization and the space. Attending this festival for the first time, Catarina Costa, who was wearing an orange hat, revealed that seeing Xutos & Pontapés, one of the bands on the bill for the first day, is always a good thing, especially in a festival environment. Right at the entrance to the venue, located in the former Madalena campsite, you'll see something new in the festival landscape: a slide and a Ferris wheel that, due to their size, immediately catch your eye. As you walk around the venue, you'll notice that the new features don't stop with the installation of those two pieces of equipment, as the layout of the five stages, with the exception of the main one, is different. Just ask friends Carla Oliveira, Joana Silva and Carolina Tavares who come every year and enjoyed the new acts, but when it comes to artists, the opinion is not unanimous, with some wanting to see Scorpions and others Pedro Sampaio and Ozuna. Dressed in sparkles and sheer fabrics, and while they were talking at the same time, Carolina Tavares confided that she had come from Luxembourg to spend her holidays and come to the festival, combining "business with pleasure." On the second day, Saturday, it will be the turn of Thirty Seconds to Mars to take to the main stage with their sixth studio album “It's The End Of The World But It's A Beautiful Day”, as well as the Portuguese Miguel Araújo and Os Quatro e Meia, Nena, Joana Almeirante and Luis Trigacheiro & Buba Espinho. On Sunday, the third and final day, Brazilian singer, composer, DJ and music producer Pedro Sampaio will be responsible for closing the festival, culminating the day that also features performances by Calema, Ozuna and Nenny. On the other four stages spread throughout the venue, festival-goers will also be able to watch performances by Insert Coin, Milhanas, Jéssica Pina, Zarco, Jimmy P., Beatriz Rosário, Lhast and Tiago Nacarato.
The venue, which opens every day at 4:00 pm and closes at 3:00 am the following day, has a capacity for 40,000 people.
