Hugo Motta argues with Carlos Jordy: 'I don't work under threat'

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), discussed with Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ) during the vote on the PEC of precatórios, in the session on Tuesday, 15th.
The argument began when Jordy asked to speak to question Motta about a highlight suggested by the Liberal Party (PL), which, according to the deputy, was “very important” for the party.
The Speaker of the House responded that the proposal had been withdrawn by the PL leader himself, Representative Sóstenes Cavalcante. Jordy countered, stating that he had just spoken to Sóstenes, which initiated the discussion.
At one point, the Speaker of the House raised his voice with the parliamentarian: “I don’t function under threat,” he declared.
Precatórios PEC is approved in the second round
The Chamber of Deputies approved in two rounds this Tuesday, 15th, a proposed constitutional amendment (PEC) that allows the government to remove spending on court-ordered debts (judicial debts of the Union) from the expenditure limit of the fiscal framework starting next year.
The measure also foresees that these expenses will be included in the fiscal target again in 2027, at a rate of 10% per year – which could delay the full incorporation of these billion-dollar expenses into the public accounts by ten years.
There were 404 votes in favor, 67 against, and three abstentions in the first round; in the second, 367 in favor and 97 against. The amendments were rejected, and the text returns to the Federal Senate.
