Pedro Pinto is the only candidate for parliamentary leader

Chega MP Pedro Pinto will once again be a candidate for parliamentary leader, a position he has held since 2022, while MPs Rita Matias and Cristina Rodrigues will be vice-presidents, an official party source told Lusa.
The election for the leadership of Chega's parliamentary group will take place on Wednesday. The proposal that will be put to the vote foresees that Pedro Pinto will remain as parliamentary leader, but includes changes to the rest of the team.
Deputy Rita Matias, elected by Setúbal and who was already part of the party leadership, will be the first vice-president. The 26-year-old deputy is the leader of Juventude Chega and deputy of the National Board.
In addition to Rita Matias, deputy Jorge Galveias will also remain as vice-president , who in the previous legislature was elected by Évora, after having led the list for Aveiro in the last two.
The following MP Cristina Rodrigues, elected by the Porto constituency, and MPs Nuno Gabriel and Daniel Teixeira, both elected on the list for Setúbal, will take over the leadership of the Chega parliamentary group. MPs Rui Paulo Sousa and Marta Silva will leave the leadership of the Chega parliamentary group.
At the beginning of the month, the president of Chega, André Ventura, suggested that deputy Pedro Pinto should remain as the party's parliamentary leader in the 17th Legislature and anticipated changes in the remaining leadership of the bench.
Pedro Pinto, elected by the Faro constituency, has led the Chega bench since 2022, when the party achieved a parliamentary group with 12 deputies for the first time.
