Local elections: Maria João Sales is the CDU candidate for the Parish Council of São Gonçalo de Lagos

The Democratic Unitary Coalition ( CDU ) presents Maria João Sales as a candidate for the presidency of the Parish Council of São Gonçalo de Lagos in the 2025 local elections.

Maria João Ribeirinho Valente Sales, 53 years old, born in Nisa, has been living in Lagos since 2006. She has a degree in the Basic Education Teacher Course - Portuguese and English Variant, from the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco.

A Portuguese and English teacher since 1997, she worked in the Autonomous Region of Madeira between 1997/1998 and 2005/2006, and was a member of the board of the Madeira Teachers' Union between 2000 and 2007.

In addition to being a teacher in the 2nd cycle of Basic Education, she was also coordinator of the European Club; coordinator of the School Library Dynamization project; coordinator of the Language Department and president of the pedagogical council at the Porto Moniz Basic and Secondary School, where she taught for seven years.

In the years 2006/2007, 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 he worked at Escola Básica 2,3 nº 1 de Lagos, where he designed and developed the Alternative Curricular Path (PCA) project in the 2nd cycle and where he was a member of the General Council of the Lagos Vertical School Group; from 2009/2010 to 2016/2017 he worked at Escola Básica Garcia Domingues and Escola Básica João de Deus, both belonging to the Silves School Group, where he was also a member of the General Council.

Since 2017/2018 he has worked at Escola Básica das Naus, being a teacher at the Gil Eanes School Group in Lagos.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Zone Teachers' Union since 2012, and due to the responsibilities assigned to him, he is also a member of its Executive Committee; he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Algarve Union of Trade Unions and a member of the National Council of FENPROF.

She was the CDU candidate in the 2021 local elections for the Lagos Municipal Assembly.
