Neves and Cancelo mourned Diogo Jota before Al Hilal's farewell to the Club World Cup

Al Hilal said goodbye to the Club World Cup after losing 2-1 to Fluminense, who became the competition's first semi-finalist, this Friday, but the highlight of the match was not the football.
Before the match, a minute's silence was observed in honour of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who died aged 28 and 25 respectively in a car accident on Thursday in Zamora, Spain. During the silence, the Portuguese players Rúben Neves and João Cancelo, the Liverpool striker's teammates in the national team, could not hold back their tears and had to be consoled by their Al Hilal teammates.
Neves, in particular, spent several years as Jota's teammate. In addition to the national team, they shared a dressing room at FC Porto and Wolverhampton.
Later, in the 20th minute, an image of Diogo Jota was shown on the stadium's giant screen, in reference to the number 20 shirt that the forward wore for club and country. Once again, Neves and Cancelo could not contain their emotions.
The game itself ended up being overlooked. Still, there was a winner and a loser — Fluminense advanced to the semi-finals of the Club World Cup, which is being held in the United States, and Al Hilal were knocked out.
In front of a nearly empty stadium in Orlando, Florida, Mateus Martinelli put the Brazilian team ahead in the 40th minute, but Marcos Leonardo equalized for the Saudis in the 51st minute. However, in the 70th minute, Hércules gave Flu the victory.
Fluminense will advance to the semi-finals. They will face the winner of the duel between the Brazilian team Palmeiras, coached by the Portuguese Abel Ferreira, and the English team Chelsea, which features another Portuguese player, Pedro Neto — who is free to decide whether he wants to play, following the death of Diogo Jota, who was also a teammate of his in the national team.
Club World Cup quarter-final match, scheduled for 2:00 am on Saturday.
