Heavy precipitation and squally winds are expected in Moscow, meteorologists warn. The sharp deterioration in weather is associated with the approach of the North Atlantic cyclone Cornelius, which will affect the capital region on June 30, 2025, the Russian Hydrometeorological Center reports.

According to forecasts, there will be rain in the capital on Monday, sometimes intense, accompanied by gusts of westerly and northwesterly winds with speeds of up to 17 meters per second. The total amount of precipitation per day may reach 16 millimeters - this is approximately a third of the June norm.

Daytime air temperatures will not exceed +15…+17 °C, and at night the thermometers will drop to +10 °C. It will be even cooler in the Moscow region: around +12 °C during the day, up to +8 °C at night. Such temperature values at the end of June are a climatic deviation: comparable figures were recorded in the capital about half a century ago.

"On the last day of June, the capital will be as cold as it was half a century ago. Over the coming week, Moscow will receive up to 42 mm of precipitation - about half of the entire monthly volume of heavenly moisture. In the Moscow region, it will be completely flooded: up to 50-60 mm. Moreover, the lion's share of the rain will fall in the next two or three days," said leading expert of the Phobos weather center Evgeny Tishkovets.

According to the Weather MSK1 service, precipitation will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 1 and 2. Temperatures will remain within +12… +16 °C. Clearing is expected only by Thursday, when the air warms up to +23 °C. On Friday, July 4, the temperature will reach +26 °C.
