The Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy martyrs Manuel, Savel and Ismail on June 30. In the folk calendar, this day is called Manuel Solstice.

In Rus', on this day, festivities were held in honor of Yarilo, the ancient Slavic god of the Sun, love, and spring fertility. Our ancestors gathered for joint festivities, made fires, and performed ritual actions. In particular, there was a custom of washing with spring water to heal ailments.

It is considered a favorable period for new projects, long trips and changing residence. A visit to the hairdresser or the purchase of new wardrobe items and shoes will be successful.

One should not remain in solitude, so as not to bring misfortune. It is also undesirable to visit forest areas and approach river streams or lakes.

It is specified that rain on this day promises a snowy winter. The appearance of an evening rainbow foretells a warm and windless summer.
