The calendar allows the government to organize New Year's holidays in 2026 up to and including January 11, taking into account the days off. This was told to TASS in the State Duma.

December 31, 2025 has already been declared a holiday, and official holidays will run from January 1 to January 8, 2026. Since January 8 falls on a Thursday, the first working day will be Friday, January 9, followed by two days off.

Thus, it is possible to make January 9 a day off, which will extend the holiday from December 31 to January 11. In this case, the first working day of 2026 will be Monday, January 12. This approach takes into account the high level of stress and the need for proper rest.

If January 9 is left as a working day, it will not be a full-fledged one - many will take leave at their own expense or negotiate with their employer. This day can be made a day off by moving the day off from January 3 or 4, which are legally holidays, but fall on Saturday and Sunday. One of these days off can be used to optimize rest during other periods, for example, during the May holidays.
