Boxer Guy Gimelfarb from Kiryat Gat won a bronze medal at the European Championships.

Boxer Guy Gimelfarb from Kiryat Gat won a bronze medal at the European Junior Boxing Championships in Montenegro. Despite a controversial refereeing decision in the semifinals, the Israeli athlete demonstrated an impressive level of performance and became one of the best on the continent.
Gimelfarb confidently navigated several rounds, including a victory over the Turkish champion. In the semifinal against his Polish opponent, the Israeli clearly dominated the second and third rounds, but the judges unexpectedly awarded the victory to the Pole. Nevertheless, Guy finished the competition with a bronze medal, which many consider a well-deserved but not definitive result—after all, his performance was worthy of the final.

In 2025, this is already the athlete's third major achievement: silver at the EUBC European Championship, gold at the international tournament in Armenia, and now bronze in Montenegro—two European medals in one year, an exceptional result even by professional standards.
Guy trains at the Maccabi Kokhav David Kiryat Gat club under the guidance of coaches Amir Simkhov, Bogdan Berger and David Kogan, with the support of the municipality headed by Mayor Kfir Svisa and the Matnas network of city centers.
"He has proven himself to be one of the strongest young boxers in Europe," the club noted. "His tenacity, character, and athletic maturity have become an example for all the youth of Kiryat Gat."
Guy Gimelfarb's speech is a reminder that Israeli athletes are capable of achieving success even under challenging conditions. Their achievements are not only a sporting victory but also a symbol of strength, will, and national pride.
