Tesla made a special discount for Türkiye, and electric vehicles took the lead

With the announcement of June car sales, electric car sales have also been announced. Last month, Tesla Model Y came in first by a wide margin with 7,235 sales in 30 days. Tesla, which has reduced its price to figures in line with the 10 percent Special Consumption Tax regulation, has taken the lead in the electric vehicle market with a list price of 4,500 euros cheaper than Europe, beating its closest rival TOGG by 2.5 times.

Drivers’ preference for electric cars in Türkiye has increased recently. According to the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) data, electric car sales in the January-June period reached 85,894 units, accounting for 17.6 percent. Sales of electric cars under 160 kW increased by 104.3 percent, accounting for 13.9 percent of total sales, while sales of electric cars over 160 kW increased by 191.3 percent, accounting for 3.7 percent.

Following the regulation made in Türkiye, the Special Consumption Tax rate for electric vehicles with a price up to 1 million 450 thousand liras was determined as 10 percent. According to this decision, a 10 percent Special Consumption Tax is applied to vehicles with an engine power not exceeding 160 kW and a tax-free price not exceeding 1 million 450 thousand TL. Tesla reduced its price by 4 thousand 500 euros compared to Europe and made a sales explosion in the electric vehicle market with a list price of 1 million 918 thousand liras with 1 million 450 thousand plus taxes. This month, Tesla Model Y ranked first with 7 thousand 235 sales figures and 27 percent market share in June, while the domestic automobile TOGG T10X model remained second with 3 thousand 98 sales. Citroën C3 ranked third with 936 sales.

He states that Tesla offers its advanced autonomy system, which costs approximately 2,300 euros to its customers in Europe, as an option in its vehicles in Türkiye, and that this is not available in vehicles sold in Türkiye.

Tesla sells its cars via an app. There is only one delivery point in Tuzla in Türkiye. There are no distributor or dealership expenses. There are also question marks in the minds of consumers regarding the service.
