Ted Lasso Season 4:The Gang’s All Back

Ted Lasso Season 4:The Gang’s All Back
preview for Ted Lasso Season 3 Official Teaser (Apple TV)

Believe it: Ted Lasso is returning for season 4. Following two years of speculation, Apple TV+ officially confirmed in March that Jason Sudeikis and the happy-go-lucky AFC Richmond team will return for another season.

If that's somehow not enough good news to brighten your afternoon, Deadline just revealed that main cast members Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) are all returning for season 4. Plus, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) and Cristo Fernández (Danny Rojas) are reportedly in talks to return for guest appearances. Folks, this is all amazing news for Ted Lasso fans.

"We all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap,' " Sudeikis said in the original press release. "In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."

Filming begins this week in Kansas City, Missouri, according to The Hollywood Reporter, where both Ted Lasso and Sudeikis call home. Season 3 ended with Lasso returning to the Midwest to spend more time with his family, but it seems a new women's team will likely rope him back to Richmond. After Kansas City, production heads to London. "Throughout the course of the season," the official logline reads, "Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would."

Season 4 will also add more creatives behind the scenes, including executive producer Jack Burditt, who created the ABC sitcom Last Man Standing with Tim Allen. The series will also add newcomers Faye Marsay (Adolescence), Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (Back in Action), Abbie Hern (Enola Holmes 2), Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion)—presumably as members of the new AFC Richmond women's team. Grant Feely, who played Luke Skywalker in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, will replace Gus Turner as Ted Lasso's son, Henry.

Apple makes it official. Ted Lasso will return for season 4.

Since its premiere in 2020, Ted Lasso tracked the life of an American football coach who was sent to lead a soccer team in England despite his (clear) lack of experience. Over three seasons, the show won a handful of awards and garnered a loyal fan base. Still, the cast seemed unsure if it would find a way to return to the screen.

"It'll be quite emotional, actually, because who knows whether it's the very, very end or not or whether there'll be more after a break," Nick Mohammed, who plays Nathan Shelley, told Esquire at the end of season 3. "I don't know whether it comes back as a film. I've heard rumors of spin-offs. ... Who knows?" But after rumors swirled of a potential fourth season, Mohammed joined in the fun by posting, "told ya!" with a laughing emoji on X (formerly Twitter).

Jokes aside, it seems that a spin-off isn't necessary. Ted Lasso will be back soon enough. Until then, we can preach the "Believe" gospel until we're all smiling silly. That's the Ted Lasso way.
