The hottest July in 55 years

The General Directorate of Meteorology announced the July 2025 Temperature Assessment Report. Accordingly, the average July temperature across Turkey, which was 25 degrees Celsius between 1991 and 2020, increased by 1.9 degrees Celsius to 26.9 degrees Celsius in July 2025. This figure was recorded as the hottest July in the last 55 years.
Record temperatures were measured in July at 66 of the 220 stations used in Türkiye's climate assessment. Cizre topped the list of top 10 stations where temperature records were recorded. The district's average July temperature, which is 49.1 degrees Celsius, rose to 49.4 degrees Celsius this year. Following Cizre, the stations that broke temperature records are as follows:
While the maximum temperature record in Ceylanpınar in July in previous years was 48.2 degrees; this year's July record is 49.0 degrees. The temperature record in Birecik with 47.2 degrees is 48.1 degrees; the temperature record in Tokat with 45 degrees is 47.2 degrees; the temperature record in Akçakale with 46.7 degrees is 47 degrees; the temperature record in Viranşehir with 46.7 degrees is 47 degrees; the temperature record in Adıyaman with 45.3 degrees is 46.3 degrees; the temperature record in Kahta with 44.5 degrees is 46 degrees; the temperature record in Boyabat with 45.4 degrees is 45.8 degrees; and the temperature record in Kahramanmaraş with 45.2 degrees was recorded as 45.8 degrees in July this year.
On July 25, an all-time temperature record for Türkiye was broken in Şırnak's Silopi district with a temperature of 50.5 degrees.
