Mayor of Yozgat dies in traffic accident
Musa Sarıaslan, the mayor of Yenifakılı, Yozgat, died when his official car overturned in a ditch. Two people in the vehicle were also injured. Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
The accident occurred on the highway between the village of Eskiören in the Yenifakılı district of Yozgat and the village of Merdanali in the Kozaklı district of Nevşehir. According to reports, the official car with the registration number 66 DN 100, driven by Yenifakılı Mayor Musa Sarıaslan (53), lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason while driving, skidded off the road, and overturned in a ditch.
After witnesses alerted the accident, medical and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Mayor Musa Sarıaslan died at the scene. Two people in the same vehicle were injured. After receiving first aid from paramedics, the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Musa Sarıaslan was elected as the Mayor of Yenifakılı from the Nationalist Movement Party in the local elections held on March 31, 2024.
An investigation into the accident was launched by gendarmerie teams.
