The European Union will play an active role in the reconstruction of Gaza.

European Council President Antonio Costa announced that the EU will play an active role in the reconstruction process in Gaza and will reactivate its border security and police training missions. Costa emphasized the EU's resolute stance for Palestine's democratic future.
The EU Council issued a written statement following the signing ceremony of the Declaration of Intent for the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, attended by world leaders. Antonio Costa, representing the EU at the summit, thanked US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for hosting the summit. Costa said, “I am grateful to both leaders for leading this Peace Summit.”
Costa stated that this summit is a culmination of the international community's efforts toward a ceasefire, a two-state solution, and lasting peace. Emphasizing the EU's commitment to actively working with all parties in implementing the Peace Plan, Costa said, "We are ready to participate in the International Peace Assembly and support transitional management, recovery, and reconstruction processes."
Costa reiterated that humanitarian aid would be increased if conditions permit, stating their commitment to ensuring that Gaza becomes part of a democratic Palestinian State, free of terrorism. Costa stated that the EU would continue to support the Palestinian Authority and its reform agenda, announcing that €1.6 billion had been allocated to the PA for the 2025-2027 period. He also announced that the EU would contribute its technical expertise to the reconstruction of Gaza after the conflict.
EUBAM RAFAH AND EUPOL COPPS WILL BE ON THE FIELD AGAINCosta stated that the EU will also be active in the security field, saying, “Our EUBAM Rafah (EU border assistance mission at the Gaza-Egypt border crossing) and EUPOL COPPS (police mission supporting Palestinian security institutions in the West Bank), which are ready to reassume their roles in border security, capacity building and police training, will contribute to the stabilization and reconstruction of Gaza.”
