These people should NOT drink coconut water

Coconut water comes directly from the fruit of the same name, and is consumed by many people due to its multiple health properties.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, via the MedlinePlus website, this distinctively flavored liquid is rich in carbohydrates and electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, and magnesium. It is frequently used to treat dehydration related to diarrhea or exercise. It is also associated with high blood pressure, as it helps regulate it, although there is no scientific evidence to support this claim.
This is precisely the reason for one of the groups that shouldn't consume it. According to MedlinePlus, although coconut water is generally considered healthy and poses no health risks, there are groups of people who should avoid it. These include patients with high potassium levels, as the product contains a large amount of this mineral; those with kidney problems should also avoid it, as this element also appears in urine.
Regarding medications, MedlinePlus notes that coconut water is believed to lower blood pressure, so people taking blood pressure-lowering medications could be even more affected; the same goes for patients taking glucose-lowering medications, as their levels could drop too low.
Remember that these recommendations are not scientifically proven. Whatever your concerns regarding coconut water consumption, we recommend that you consult your doctor. The specialist will review your individual case and advise you on what is best for your health.
