INE Quintana Roo conducts accessible voting simulation ahead of June 1

The National Electoral Institute (INE) in Quintana Roo presented this Friday the model for the polling station that will be implemented on June 1, with an emphasis on accessibility measures for people with disabilities.
The demonstration took place at Kohunlich Elementary School in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood of Chetumal, with the participation of electoral authorities and representatives of vulnerable sectors.
INE officials simulated the entire voting process, from polling station setup to polling station closure, highlighting the physical and operational adjustments that ensure the right to vote without exclusions.
“Inclusion is a fundamental pillar of the electoral process,” said Cathia Elizabeth Castillo Solís, Electoral Organization Officer for the INE in the state.
During his presentation, he explained the features of the polling station, which includes accessible partitions, visible signage, Braille templates, and adapted ballot boxes.
The event was led by Sergio Bernal Rojas, Executive Director of the INE in Quintana Roo, and was attended by Raúl E. Godínez González, head of the Electoral Training and Civic Education Office, as well as representatives of the Quintana Roo Electoral Institute (IEQROO).
Also participating were officials from the INE's 02 District Executive Board, including José Francisco Croce Flota, Executive Director, and Erik Alejandro Escoffie Lazo, Electoral Training Director, who explained the stages of election day and reiterated the institution's commitment to free, secret, and accessible voting.
The demonstration was aimed at the media, citizens with disabilities, and representatives of sexual diversity, who learned firsthand how the model, which will be replicated throughout the state on election day, works.
