A 63-year-old resident of the Lamothe-Montravel nursing home was discovered dead late Friday morning, July 4, in the stream that runs alongside the facility.

Shortly after 11:15 a.m. on Friday, July 4, the lifeless body of a man was found in a stream that runs behind the private nursing home Les Jardins d'Iroise, in Lamothe-Montravel, on the border between the Dordogne and Gironde departments. The victim was discovered by a maintenance worker at the facility, below the building.

The 63-year-old man was a resident of the nursing home. He suffered from cognitive impairment and had already run away several times. In September 2024, the sixty-year-old disappeared for several hours before being located in Cenon, Gironde, about 100 kilometers from the facility.

Emergency services and law enforcement responded to the scene. As no forensic evidence was found, criminal activity was ruled out. The hypothesis of an accidental fall into the river is favored, given his cognitive impairment.

The victim's body was handed over to his family.
