Harris Dickinson, Tom Holland and Jacob Elordi considered for James Bond role

The list of potential 007s has grown by three new names, according to Variety . The lucky winner will star in the role of Denis Villeneuve, who was chosen by Amazon to direct the sequel to the saga.
Instead, we should list the names that weren't considered. Since Daniel Craig hung up his gloves in 2021 after No Time To Die , many actors have been touted as potential James Bonds . From Tom Hardy to Cillian Murphy ( Peaky Blinders ), including Tom Hiddleston (Marvel's Loki), Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, and, more recently, Stuart Martin .
Amazon's acquisition of the franchise and the choice of Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve are rekindling speculation. According to a leak in the trade magazine Variety , three actors are in the running. All, in accordance with Amazon's commitments , are British or from the Commonwealth. And are under thirty years old. James Bond is apparently getting younger, since Daniel Craig was 53 at the time of his last mission in Her Majesty's service.

The producers are thus thinking of Jacob Elordi, revealed in the sulphurous series Euphoria and appreciated by American art house cinema, from Sofia Coppola to Paul Schrader. To Harris Dickinson, seen in Disney's Maleficent (2019) as well as in Ruben Östlund's Unfiltered , Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2022. As well as Tom Holland, the superstar who has played Spider-Man since 2016.
In 2022, Amazon paid nearly $8.45 billion to acquire the legendary Hollywood studio MGM, which included the catalog of past James Bond films. After a tough negotiation , the group also reached a financial agreement to take creative control of the franchise. Jeff Bezos's company, whose recent Venetian wedding resembled a scene from Bond, can steer the next adventures at will.
The choice of Denis Villeneuve as the saga's new director has reassured purists, who feared Amazon would damage the franchise. The acclaimed director of Sicario and Dune has promised to "honor tradition" and has set out to find the right 007. He should expect criticism. In 2006, Daniel Craig was mocked for his hair color, before eventually winning over even Sean Connery fans. The next installment, according to Variety , is not expected to hit theaters until 2028.
