BolognaFiere, work begins on the multifunctional pavilion

BolognaFiere, work begins on the multifunctional pavilion

New investment of 70 million euros for BolognaFiere, which has officially announced the start of work on the new multifunctional pavilion designed by Mario Cucinella Architects.

"It will be an iconic work - assures the CEO of the trade fair group, Antonio Bruzzone - designed to be able to adapt, in a flexible way, to host both trade fairs and sporting events, as well as shows".

With over 12,000 square meters of surface area and a height of 25 meters, the new pavilion will be able to hold approximately 10,500 spectators. The modular structure will allow the group's main trade fairs (Eima, Cersaie and Cosmoprof) to fully develop their growth potential, but also to increase the business of international congresses and accelerate the diversification strategy undertaken a few years ago by BolognaFiere, hosting, as mentioned, sporting events (starting with the championship and Euroleague matches of Virtus Segafredo Zanetti and the 2026 Davis Cup finals), as well as concerts and shows.

The project, explains Bruzzone, is also part of the broader redevelopment program of the fair district started in 2016, which has so far required investments of 116 million euros, to which these additional 70 million are now added, and which aims to integrate and make the fair center communicate more with the city and the surrounding urban space.

The multifunctional pavilion will be built in a strategic position between Piazza Aldo Moro (the hub between the city centre and the new TEK district, or Tech Entertainment and Knowledge) and Viale della Fiera.
