Stefano Beghi , president and co-founder of the Karakorum Teatro di Varese, is also among the fifteen personalities selected for the European advanced training programme “ Alliance for socially engaged arts” which trains and supports leaders of cultural organisations committed to social change .
The only Italian representative, Beghi passed a very rigorous selection process: 892 applications from all over Europe , three evaluation phases and in-depth interviews. In the end, only fifteen cultural leaders were chosen to participate in the program, which includes 18 months of intensive training , mentoring, international meetings and a strong investment in planning and organizational development.
"Being selected for this Fellowship represents an important recognition for the work we have been doing for years with Karakorum Teatro - comments Stefano Beghi - but above all it is an opportunity to bring our experience into a European debate on the new frontiers of social art. Today more than ever, art can become an active garrison of dialogue, cohesion and social innovation, increasingly central to contemporary social challenges".
The program aims to create European networks that enrich local work , promoting visibility , exchange of good practices, new skills and greater funding opportunities. Among the eleven foundations that support “ Alliance for socially engaged arts” there is also Fondazione Cariplo . «Stefano Beghi’s candidacy has proven to be valid and strong – underlines Alessandra Valerio, Art and culture area Fondazione Cariplo – and the selection has evaluated both the profile of leader in socially impact arts, and the potential of the organization of origin in generating local impact. The goal is also to collect data to better represent the social value already produced, often not adequately reported». The course has just begun and will involve participants in a busy schedule of activities, including international residencies – the first of which will take place in Turin in autumn 2025 – online workshops, meetings with policy makers, foundations and investors , as well as personalized support to strengthen their respective organizations and increase their impact on the territory.
