“What is being created in Ponte a Poppi is a beautiful work of urban, architectural and institutional regeneration. Where once there was a structure no longer up to standard, today a modern, sustainable, safe and functional building is taking shape. A point of reference for the entire Casentino. The work is proceeding towards completion, and I can only express satisfaction for a project that fully responds to the needs of the community”.

This was stated by Vincenzo Ceccarelli, regional councilor of the Democratic Party, who in recent days carried out an inspection of the construction site of the new headquarters of the Union of Mountain Municipalities of Casentino, in Ponte a Poppi.

“The old headquarters, which had first hosted the Mountain Community and then the Union, was no longer safe from either a seismic or static point of view. Thanks to a major demolition and reconstruction operation, today a new generation structure is being created, based on criteria of sustainability, energy saving and versatility of spaces. It will be a lively and central place for the entire valley.

The new building, Ceccarelli continues, will have a triple function: it will house the offices of the Union of Municipalities, it will be the strategic headquarters of the Civil Protection of Casentino, it will include a multipurpose and multimedia room with 200 seats, designed for events, public meetings, assemblies and cultural activities.

The Tuscany Region has believed in this intervention from the beginning – underlines Ceccarelli – and has invested over 700 thousand euros to co-finance the work. A commitment shared with the Municipalities of the Union, who have done their part and whom I thank, as well as the administrators and technicians who have carried out the planning, overcoming the many difficulties of a bureaucratic and technical nature.

This intervention, concludes Vincenzo Ceccarelli, is the symbol of a way of doing good politics: starting from the real needs of the territory, involving local authorities and deploying public resources to return safer, more modern and beautiful places to citizens. Casentino deserves it.”
