The big party for the national Paralympic football final at the centre (Cpo) of Tirrenia: a Figc event which was also attended by the head of the Italian delegation Buffon
Pisa, May 26, 2025 – A big party at the end of the two days of Tirrenia with Gigi Buffon . Saturday and Sunday of challenges on the field for the National Final of the Paralympic and experimental football division at the Olympic Training Center of Tirrenia. “A precious presence in our territory,” comments the sports councilor Frida Scarpa .
“There are only three centers of this kind in all of Italy, including ours, the only one that is completely inclusive: over 43 hectares without architectural barriers, the great green lung of Pisa. It hosts athletes and major events like this, carrying forward the message that sport is for everyone and belongs to everyone, and football is one of the most popular sports along with cycling, we recently had an important example with the Giro d'Italia. A fantastic show of inclusion. I thank the FIGC and the CONI who once again chose Pisa for this event that welcomed over 800 athletes divided into various competition groups”. “I spoke with the federal leaders – adds Scarpa – because we are trying to carry forward various projects. Many female athletes and referees participated. There have been ugly episodes of discrimination for female referees here too, a cultural change is needed. A great day of sport and inclusion. And it is not the only one. Pisa is the city that hosts the Paralympic Fencing World Cup, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, a global event in which Bebe Vio participated”.
“It was – stated the president of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina – another fantastic season, marked by the contagious passion of the athletes registered with the Paralympic and Experimental Football Division of the FIGC. The Tirrenia finals were a true celebration of inclusive sport, the most beautiful manifesto for the different federal sensibilities in the field of disability, one of the pillars of the 2030 Sustainability Strategy”. The head of the Italian delegation Buffon spoke of “satisfaction”, “it is an honour to be here”. For the record, the referee for the level 3 final was the international referee Maurizio Mariani. Unsurpassed Piemonte (in levels 1 and 2) and Torino FD (level 3) win the national titles.
