Judicial association calls for elections to be cancelled due to possible human rights violations

The association representing federal magistrates and judges demanded the immediate suspension of the scheduled judicial elections , based on a complaint accepted by the UN about possible human rights violations.
The National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges ( Judef ) submitted a formal request this Friday to:
- Suspend the judicial elections scheduled for June 1
- Review the electoral process for possible irregularities
- Guarantee the independence of the judiciary
The petition is based on:
- Communication admitted by the UN Human Rights Committee
- Possible violation of the right to judicial independence
- Risks of violations of fundamental human rights
