Fighting Legion? Postponing for now…

The attempt to withdraw from the appearance in the match for the Super Cup on 13th July and postpone it to "who knows when" was quickly nipped in the bud by Lech Poznań. Sure, the match at Bułgarska was scheduled between the matches with Kazakhstan's FK Aktobe in the first round of the Europa League qualifiers, but it was hard to believe that after the scandal connected with the previous match for this trophy, the Polish Football Association would allow itself to commit another farce with the organisation of our football "ugly duckling".

But since the Ekstraklasa regulations opened up a loophole for our export teams in the summer to postpone the league match, the capital club quickly took advantage of it. After returning from the return match, which will de facto take place in Asia, Legia, aware that it will return from Aktobe tired and at an unknown time, postponed the first round match with Piast, which was to be played on Sunday at 20:15 in front of its own audience, and not in Gliwice. The team will have more time to prepare for the trip to the Czech Republic. Not so distant, because it will either be Ostrava or Prague. The latter option would indicate that Legia will not be able to afford another "zone", because a defeat in the qualifications for the Conference League will end its career in European cups. Hence the idea to get out of the Super Cup.

Iordanescu is sending a signal that he wants to have more time to work with the team, because he can't "fall apart" in the first few meters. But isn't he overdoing it? He's trying to avoid all the domestic obstacles. And yet, analyzing previous examples of postponing holiday dates, they sporadically gave a specific effect, adding another match to be played at the end of the year, when everyone is already dreaming mainly of holidays, which also reflected in December results. A year ago, Goncalo Feio, although he didn't have such distant trips as the closest one, immediately gave up on this possibility. He wanted to play regularly, without any tricks. On the other hand, he postponed Śląsk and in Europe it did absolutely nothing. In the league it didn't help either, quite the opposite, because in December, in Wrocław, Radomiak won in the postponed, perhaps crucial match. WKS was not relegated because of this, but also those lost points at that time cannot be underestimated. All the more so because it was at the end of the year that the team from Lower Silesia was supposed to catch up with the teams above them in the relegation zone and hope for a better "tomorrow" in the spring. They didn't.

Will this maneuver help Legia? We don't know that today. The history of other translators shows that this is absolutely not a "gate" that opens anything. In theory, you can kill two birds with one stone, but there is also the possibility of unpleasant poisoning.
