Let's recall the sequence of events. It began with Michał Probierz's resignation from the position of coach, which was made public on June 12. Earlier, the Polish national football team lost 1:2 in Helsinki to Finland in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

As if that wasn't enough, a few dozen hours before the match with the Finns, the so-called armband scandal broke out. First, coach Probierz stripped Robert Lewandowski of the role of captain of the national team , informing the player about it... by phone.

"Lewy's" reaction was immediate, a post on social media with the message that as long as Probierz is the coach, he will not play in the Polish national team because he has lost trust in the coach.

As you can see, the atmosphere around the team, as well as within it, is far from normal. Which has been a sad reality for a long time now…

Who will be the new coach of the Polish national team? According to journalists from Sport.pl and Onet/Przegląd Sportowy, the Polish Football Association is supposed to have one strong candidate. It is Jerzy Brzęczek, who is supposed to be "packaged" with support from his assistant Łukasz Piszczek and Jakub Błaszczykowski - as team manager/director of the national team.

Even Brzęczek himself commented on the matter.

"Even if there are difficult moments - and the national team is undoubtedly going through such moments now - the position of coach is always an honour for everyone, something special. I would definitely think about it and consider the offer" - we read the words of Probierz's successor(?).

It is worth adding that Brzęczek was already the national team coach in the years 2018-21. The then president of the Polish Football Association, Zbigniew Boniek, fired the coach, even though he had won promotion to Euro 2020. His successor turned out to be the Portuguese Paulo Sousa, who went with the team to the European Championships, which were delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but did not achieve any success there.

Will Robert Lewandowski be pleased with this coach?

Where did the sudden idea of ​​Brzęczek's return come from? This could be the result of Maciej Skorża's "no" decision. The Polish Football Association, through the secretary of the federation Łukasz Wachowski, saw this coach as number 1 on the list of potential successors to Probierz.

Since it didn't work out, new options are being sought. It seems that the solutions with Jan Urban or Marek Papszun, which were promoted by the media and fans , are currently unrealistic scenarios.

What could Lewandowski say about Brzęczek's return? This is interesting because "Lewy" memorably, eloquently, ignored the answer for a few seconds when asked about the style of the national team under the baton of the "Pope".

That silence had its power. Shortly afterwards, president Boniek made the decision to part ways with Brzęczek. Let's be honest, when it comes to the national team, Lewandowski has to be on your side, and every coach knows that.

Mateusz Borek provided surprising news in the context of the relationship between Lewandowski and Brzęczek. The experienced journalist, who has been close to the Polish national team for years, shed new light on the possible reconstruction of cooperation between "Lewy" and the 1992 Olympic medalist.

When it comes to the way of working. Really. Believe me, it is. I'm talking about the training layer, the approach to the team. Then maybe something went wrong for reasons, I would say, slightly external, or maybe some kind of tension that existed for several years in Polish football between Kuba and Robert. I wouldn't like to expose it too much, because it wasn't visible in the matches. Whenever Robert could pass the ball to someone else, he passed it to Kuba and vice versa. This sports cooperation was perfect on the pitch. However, he is definitely a coach who, from the group of the last coaches of the Polish national team who were after Nawałka, was a coach who in many aspects corresponded to Robert Lewandowski [...] And it's not that it seems to me, I just know it – admitted the co-creator of the Sport Channel a few days after Probierz left the national team.

Will Brzęczek actually return to work with the national team? Will Lewandowski decide to play for the national team again? Will the gentlemen, given the chance for a new collaboration, come to an agreement and successfully fight for promotion to next year's World Cup?
