The famous club will spend 28 years paying for the construction of a new stadium

The 70,000-capacity stadium is set to be completed in 2027. Valencia announced that the €237 million loan (bonds) will be repaid over 28 years, with €85 million of the financing to be covered by the sale of the land on which the current Mestalla is located.

"This is a historic milestone for Valencia CF. With this agreement, we are building more than just a stadium - we are building the future of Valencia CF," the club's president, Singaporean businessman Kiat Lim, said in a statement.

“Securing this groundbreaking financing gives us the green light to deliver Nou Mestalla – a world-class stadium that will fuel the club’s growth for generations. It is the clearest expression of our long-term commitment to Valencia and a reflection of the trust and confidence the club now has in the global financial markets.

Valencia CF began construction of the stadium in... 2007.

Valencia's new stadium design was first unveiled in November 2006, with work beginning the following August. It was halted in February 2009 when the club's then owners ran out of money, after spending around €100 million on building the stadium's concrete base.

The club’s current owner, Peter Lim (Kiat’s father), was embroiled in a long-running dispute with local authorities over the permits required for construction, which was eventually resolved before work on the site resumed in January 2025.

The Nou Mestalla will also have around 7,000 VIP seats and facilities for non-football events. This will allow the stadium to increase the club's revenue, help cover construction costs and other ongoing liabilities.

Local fans are very emotionally attached to the Mestalla stadium, currently the oldest in La Liga, where Valencia have played since 1923.

Completion of construction in 2027 means the new facility will be ready for use during the 2030 World Cup, when Spain will co-host the tournament with Portugal and Morocco.
