Polish volleyball players are back in the game! The national team will face some great clashes

Three wins in four matches. With such a balance, the Polish national volleyball team ended their first VNL 2025 tournament. In Beijing, the team led by coach Stefano Lavarini showed quite solid play, which brought many good moments, but it is certainly not the target form yet. However, it does not have to be, looking at the challenges of this season, including the most important one, the world championship. During an event of this rank in 2022, the Polish women jumped to the quarterfinals.

The aforementioned 2022 World Cup was also a moment when the Polish team had only a few months of work under the then new coach. Since then, Lavarini has already organized the team according to his standards of functioning. What's more, it turned out so well that the Polish Volleyball Federation extended the contract with the Italian and looks forward to the next challenges with hope, including the most important one, the Olympic tournament - Los Angeles 2028.

In Belgrade, the Polish women will face several serious tests. For dessert, on the last day, a competition with the hosts, the current world champions. The Serbians are also the team that eliminated the Polish team at the 2022 World Cup – winning a memorable, five-set thriller in the quarterfinals in Gliwice.

The Polish team will also have a score to settle in the clash with the USA. The Americans eliminated Lavarini's team during last year's Olympic tournament. In Paris, it ended in three sets, and the USA ultimately reached the vice-championship of the games. On the other hand, the Polish women were better than the Americans - and on their own territory - during the final tournament of the VNL 2023, in the game for bronze medals.

Looking at coach Lavarini's call-ups for the first tournament in China, the "new faces" that will enter the action are receiver Julita Piasecka and middle blocker Weronika Centka-Tietianiec.
