Every second Novgorod resident supports the ban on social networks for teenagers

According to the latest survey by the SuperJob service, almost half of the parents surveyed in Veliky Novgorod support the idea of banning social networks for children under 15. 44% are in favor, 32% are against, and another 24% are undecided. 35% of those under 35 approve, while 53% of those over 35 approve.

As noted by SuperJob representatives, some European countries want to resort to such a practice: the corresponding bill was developed by ministers responsible for digital policy in France, Spain and Greece. The main arguments of Novgorod residents who support this idea in Russia are generally reasonable: "There is a risk of meeting unnecessary people on social networks"; "Instead of studying, they hang out on social networks." And if many adults are now "sinful" of wasting time on the phone , then the issue of children's safety is a truly serious problem.

At the same time, objections make sense: “If we impose a ban, children will still be on social networks, but secretly. And then it will be much more difficult to control”; “Social networks are communication. Ban communication until the age of 15?” It is very unlikely that a ban will stimulate a return to live communication – rather, children will really learn to do everything “indirectly”.

Let us emphasize that we are talking specifically about social networks – there is no mention of a ban on the use of other applications, messengers and online services. By the way, the social networks themselves already have a fairly clear position in this regard: VKontakte, for example, has long allowed registration of users only from 14 years old.
