In memory of the fallen heroes, Novgorodians laid flowers at the Eternal Flame

Novgorodians honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and, as usual, laid red flowers at the Eternal Flame. Acting Governor of the Novgorod Region Alexander Dronov and the Mayor of Veliky Novgorod Alexander Rozbaum personally participated in the event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow.
It should be noted that today completely coincides with the tragic date of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War: it began 84 years ago on Sunday, June 22. Mayor Alexander Rozbaum drew attention to this.

"The first to meet the enemy were our heroic border guards, who, at the cost of their lives, holding back the enemy's onslaught to the last drop of blood, defended the State Border entrusted to them. The country learned about the beginning of the war from the message of Yuri Levitan, and the entire multinational people, united into a single fist, stood up to defend the Motherland, overcoming inhuman trials, showing courage and heroism, resisted the enemy, defending every meter of their native land," Mayor Alexander ROZBAUM recalled on his official channel.
At exactly four o'clock in the morning, the symphonic poem "All-Night Vigil" by Sergei Rachmaninov was performed by the Mariinsky Theatre Choir under the direction of conductor and choirmaster Konstantin Rylov in front of the St. Sophia Cathedral in the Novgorod Kremlin. The concert was organized as part of the cultural and educational program of the "Oneg" Museum-Estate", which is being implemented with the support of the Novgorod Region Government and entrepreneur and philanthropist Andrei Komarov.
