Zibo hosts international conference to mark 40th anniversary of sister city friendship

The end of spring was marked by a number of commemorative events in Zibo (Shandong Province, PRC), where the 40th anniversary of international cooperation between this Chinese city and other cities was celebrated. In particular, on May 28, the opening ceremony of the international conference on youth exchange and the Second International Friendship Week took place here. The event was attended by more than 300 guests from 28 countries, including delegations of sister cities, international organizations, embassies, consulates and representative offices in China. Alexander Rozbaum, the mayor of Veliky Novgorod (recall that our city is also a long-standing sister city of Zibo) sent a video greeting to his Chinese colleagues.

As the Chinese side notes, the guests highly appreciated the achievements of Shandong Province and Zibo City in economic and social development, and unanimously stated that they would deepen cooperation with Zibo in the fields of economy, trade, culture, science, technology, education, youth exchanges, etc.

During the ceremony, agreements on friendly cities and cooperation projects were signed, and the Service Platform with overseas services in Zibo was launched. Afterwards, the guests visited the 40th Anniversary Exhibition of International Friendship and Cooperation. The day before, on May 27, representatives of the sister cities signed the Initiative for Cooperation and Development.

Also at the end of May, an international meeting of young talents and the “Latin American Bridge” were held in Zibo.
