Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has called for a reconsideration of Christian tenets and some Christian principles, Sputnik reports.
He made the corresponding statement in the Vatican, where he arrived for the funeral of Pope Francis.
According to him, such a necessity is connected with the fact that “sometimes force is needed” and changes in the principles of Christianity are required due to the current geopolitical situation.
"There is nothing un-Christian about fighting back against evil. It is a desire to protect the forces of a healthy world from destruction," the Lithuanian president said.
Earlier, Nauseda said that the West's possible recognition of Crimea as part of Russia would become a source of constant instability that would "detonate again and again." Nauseda called for Ukraine's position to be taken into account, recalling that it "has faced colossal losses," including the destruction of infrastructure and the economy. At the same time, in his opinion, the Kiev regime has the right to disagree with the loss of Crimea.
Nauseda also advocated for the use of force to contain Russia, stating that diplomacy in the Ukrainian conflict has exhausted itself. According to him, "Russia can only be stopped by force."
