Almost 2 million South Uralians play sports


As part of the summing up of the state program "Development of Physical Culture and Sports", deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the region noted the growth in the number of South Uralians involved in an active lifestyle. According to the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the region Vladimir Ivanov, the number of those involved has reached 1 million 942 thousand people.
In 2024, new sports facilities were opened in the region: sports and recreation centers with swimming pools in the Uysky, Argayashsky and Nyazepetrovsky districts; complexes with gaming halls in the Sosnovsky, Ashinsky districts and the Verkhneufaleysky urban district; open sports and recreation centers in the Ashinsky, Satkinsky, Sosnovsky and Troitsky municipalities; frame-tent ice rinks in the Chebarkulsky, Yetkulsky and Krasnoarmeysky districts.
Thanks to the "Zemsky Trainer" program, 12 specialists from Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Bashkortostan and neighboring regions were attracted to small settlements. Each received a one-time payment of 1 million rubles.
52 GTO testing centers have been created on the basis of sports schools. In 2024, 16 thousand events were held, including all-Russian and international competitions: Russian championships in short track, triathlon cross, wakeboard, and the Grand Prix in figure skating.
There are over 9.6 thousand sports facilities in the region. Construction and modernization of infrastructure continues. As the chairman of the relevant committee Mikhail Vidgof emphasized, the South Urals has secured its status as a site for high-level competitions. The committee recommended continuing the implementation of the state program in 2025.
