In the first quarterfinal match of the playoffs of the Russian Women's Handball Super League, Mikhail Izmailov's team met with the local Kuban in Krasnodar. The Astrakhan team lost with a score of 22:25.

In this confrontation, Astrakhanochka was considered the favorite, but women's handball is unpredictable. At the beginning of the first half, the handball players from the capital of the Caspian region broke away by 3 goals, but soon the hosts of the court managed not only to equalize the score, but also to take the lead. The teams went to rest with an equal score - 12:12.

After the break, Kuban was in charge, but then Astrakhanochka took the lead. 8 minutes before the end of the match, Mikhail Izmailov's team was leading 22:20, but in the remaining time they conceded 5 unanswered goals. In the end, 25:22, Kuban won. Victoria Klimantseva was the most productive player in Astrakhanochka, scoring 6 goals.

The return match will take place on April 30 in Astrakhan.
