Young powerlifter from Salekhard won gold at interregional competition in Muravlenko

A Salekhard athlete won a gold medal at the interregional powerlifting competition, the Salekhard administration's Department of Physical Culture and Sports reported.

"Timofey Bazanov, a graduate of the Start sports school, showed an excellent result and became the best in his weight category - 53 kg. Based on the results of the performance, the athlete fulfilled the standard of a candidate for Master of Sports of Russia," the statement says.

The Salekhard powerlifter trains under the guidance of coach Alexey Konovalov.

The interregional powerlifting competition for the prizes of the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was held in Muravlenko from April 22 to 25. More than 90 athletes from the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra and Sverdlovsk Oblast took part.

Let us recall that at the end of last year, Timofey Bazanov became the winner of the Ural Federal District Powerlifting Championship.
