Real Madrid may boycott the final match of the Spanish Cup and not attend the match because they are unhappy with the appointed referee, writes El Mundo.
The publication says that the Madrid team has already refused to hold a press conference before the match, although it has become a tradition. Moreover, Real Madrid players skipped training and ignored an invitation to a photo shoot.
As El Mundo notes, Real Madrid is thus reacting to the decision of the local football authorities to appoint Burgos Bengoechea as referee for the match. The Royal Club believes that he has previously made many gross errors that have harmed the Madrid team.
Before this, the Real Madrid club TV channel criticized this referee. According to the Madrid team, his refereeing is biased and he clearly favors Barcelona. Real Madrid also doubts the professional qualities of this referee, pointing out that he is not invited to referee Champions League and national team matches.
The referee himself broke down and burst into tears during the press conference. The Spanish Cup final between Real Madrid and Barcelona is scheduled for Saturday, April 26.
