Lemonade flowed from the fountain in the mosque courtyard

At the Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Beşiktaş, lemonade is served to the public every Friday after prayers. The lemonade, prepared in cauldrons and cooled to a frozen state, is poured into glasses from the fountain in front of the mosque after prayers and distributed to the congregation. Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 glasses of lemonade are served each week as part of this program.

"WE DISTRIBUTED APPROXIMATELY 40,000 GLASSES OF LEMONADE"

Nizamettin Uzun, the director of the Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque, said, “We started this project last summer. Our mosque was opened on Friday, May 12th, 2023, with the participation of our President. Last year, we launched this lemonade service so that our citizens could benefit from it, even if only a little, during this hot weather. Last year, we distributed nearly 40,000 glasses of lemonade. This year, we offer the same service only during the summer months and immediately after Friday prayers, as citizens come here after prayers, to serve them in glasses. Our lemonade fountain is right behind us, as you can see. We have our steel cauldron here. We bring the lemonade from outside. It's completely pure and natural. It arrives frozen. We open it here and supplement it with water. This way, we send it to our fountain using a small hydrophore. Here, we fill the glasses we've placed on our tables with jugs and serve them to our citizens. We estimate 2,500-3,000 glasses.” "We distribute lemonade here on Fridays," he said.

Hüseyin Kaya, who stated that he cools off by drinking lemonade every Friday after prayers, said, "We heard that lemonade is distributed every Friday at the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Beşiktaş. Friends around us told us that they come here every Friday to pray and then distribute lemonade from the fountain after prayers. I also want to thank the staff here and our foundation for implementing this. During the summer months, they ensure that people can cool off after Friday prayers. They offer refreshments. They told me that the foundation has implemented this program. It's a wonderful, wonderful thing. This is the first time I've seen something like this. It's been going on for a year and a half."
