Türkiye ranks first in Europe in mobile usage time

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, "Turkey became the country with the most mobile phone calls compared to European countries, with an average monthly mobile usage time of 493 minutes in the second quarter of 2025."
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu released a written statement assessing the second-quarter 2025 electronic communications sector data prepared by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK). Minister Uraloğlu stated that approximately 81.4% of total mobile subscribers were individual subscribers, while 18.6% were corporate subscribers. He added, "Turkey made the most calls on mobile phones compared to European countries, with an average monthly mobile usage time of 493 minutes in the second quarter of 2025."

Uraloğlu stated that a total of 81.8 billion minutes of calls were made via mobile and landline phones, adding, "This period corresponds to 155,000 years of uninterrupted talking."
Uraloğlu noted that the number of operators operating in the electronic communications sector was 405 as of the end of June, adding, "The number of authorizations granted to these operators is 751. These operators are listed in terms of authorization numbers as 'Internet Service Provider Service,' 'Infrastructure Operation Service,' and 'Landline Telephone Service.'"
Uraloğlu emphasized that the number of fixed-line subscribers reached 8.8 million and the number of mobile subscribers reached approximately 96.5 million in the second quarter of 2025. He also noted that mobile traffic increased by 8.8 percent and fixed-line traffic by 5.8 percent compared to the previous three-month period. He added, "Mobile-to-mobile traffic constituted the majority of the traffic, 95.8 percent."

Uraloğlu noted that 20.7 million of the broadband internet subscribers are fixed subscribers and 76.6 million are mobile subscribers, adding, "We have reached a total of 97.4 million broadband internet subscribers. The number of internet subscribers increased by 1.9 percent compared to the same period last year, with the highest increase occurring in the number of 'Wireless and Wireless Internet (Fixed)' subscribers at 36.6 percent, followed by 'Fiber to the Home' subscribers at 24 percent. In terms of fiber infrastructure, the fiber length, which was approximately 577,000 kilometers in the same period last year, reached approximately 637,000 kilometers in the second quarter of 2025, representing a 10.6 percent increase."
