MHP leader Bahçeli: "The Alevi is ours, the Kurd is ours, everyone is equal before the law."
MHP Chairman Devlet Behçeli issued a written statement regarding the "Alevi and Kurdish Vice President" debates.
" MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made the following statement:
"The Nationalist Movement Party has permanent and deep-rooted proposals for every problem that directly or indirectly concerns our country, with its strong intellectual heritage and effective political struggle, and this is the natural and correct thing to do. Turkish nationalism is the guarantee of independence of the noble and beloved Turkish nation and the guarantee of the existence of its historical personality and national identity. It is a well-known fact that the Nationalist Movement Party is against all forms of discrimination, separatism, and divisions based on ethnicity and sect, and this is a political stance that has become ingrained in the collective conscience. In this context, we have no curiosity or search to hear, listen, learn or take lessons from anyone. In the context of the Joint Meeting of the Central Executive Board and the Central Disciplinary Board, held behind closed doors on July 18, 2025, I personally made assessments on hot topics that concern Türkiye. Among these, a significant place is, of course, given to the stages of the Terrorism-Free Türkiye goal and the satisfactory developments achieved within this framework. However, the entire 102-year history of our Republic has been marked by harassment, destruction and provocations of ethnic and sectarian separatism.
No sane and conscientious person will be able to deny this shocking truth. With the emergence of a "Türkiye Without Terror" in the new century, those who dream of ethnic and sectarian division will be left without hope.
"It is possible and certain that national unity and brotherhood will be strengthened with the political and legal possibilities of the Presidential System of Government and the theoretical and institutional principles it encompasses. Its schematic formula has been cast into the mould of political and legal thought in the form of an equilateral triangle. Indeed, on the occasion of the afforestation campaign on November 11, 2024, and inspired by the trees planted in front of our party in support of our Turkish state tradition, the fir tree symbolized the executive, the blue spruce tree the legislative, and the cedar tree the independent judiciary. In addition, it has been brought to the agenda as a political proposition that the President could be at the top and the Vice President at the bottom two corners. At a time when a Terror-Free Türkiye is advancing step by step against ethnic and sectarian impositions that are tiring, wearing out our Turkey, stealing its energy, and causing exorbitant social and economic costs, it has been considered that one of the two Vice Presidents could be Alevi and the other Kurdish. Associating this idea and political proposal with Lebanon is a distortion and a deliberate distortion of a sincere thought. There is no one who would have the strength, the courage or the will to attempt to turn Türkiye into the complex, chaotic and unstable structure of Lebanon or any other similar country. The attempt of bohemian and depressed political losers who long for the Beirut nights to denigrate and terrorize a shared proposal based on history and culture is a pathetic act of opportunism.
For decades, the Republican People's Party has used our Alevi brothers as political material, and our Kurdish brothers have also been manipulated.
"Despite many suggestions and deceptions, thankfully neither the Alevis nor the Kurds have fallen into hostile traps. There is no one to stop you, no one to obstruct you. Moreover, it is unthinkable that any presidential candidate, whether Alevi or Kurdish, will emerge who will disregard the prevailing democratic and national will and question the manifest legitimacy after exceeding the 50 percent vote quorum. The Republic of Türkiye is a state governed by the rule of law. The rule of law, not the superiors, is dominant and pervasive.
Regardless of origin, sect, region, or mother tongue, all those bound to the Republic of Turkey through citizenship are equal before the law. They are also honorable members of the Turkish nation.
No one has any privilege or difference from anyone else. However, it is morally and historically flawed to divert a perspective of thought with the aim of completely removing ethnic and sectarian separatism from the agenda alongside the goal of a Terror-Free Türkiye. It is a shameful and impudent act of those who are rubbing their hands together to obscure the blessed future of Türkiye and the Turkish nation, and who are circles with poisonous essence and disposition, to enter into a nationalist race with us. We do not pay attention to what the puppets who hide in the darkness in their comfortable corners and hold the light to stone say, we focus on what our nation says and what history will say. It will be out of the question for us to deviate even a single inch from our views. The fact that my remarks at the closed-door meeting were leaked to a certain so-called journalist, and that this gossip brand and every tightrope-juggling journalist then brought it up like a swindler, is significant given its timing. And it's among our notes.
The Nationalist Movement Party is ready to face any attack.

If everyone is us and we are brothers, it is our national honor to act honestly and responsibly.
Those who have become pawns of corruption, those who muddy the waters, those who act as extras in bespoke scenarios, and those who thus foster polarization between Turks and Kurds, Alevis and Sunnis, secularists and anti-secularists, and believers and non-believers are rotten people who are not even worthy of being the stepchildren of this magnificent family.
