A great day for the Przemyśl brigade. The "Territorials" received their banner [PHOTOS]

On May 5, the President of the Republic of Poland and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Andrzej Duda – at the request of the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz – awarded the banner to the 20th Przemyśl Territorial Defence Brigade in recognition of its services to the defence of the country and exemplary service to national security. The decision was received by representatives of the Przemyśl unit on May 8, 2019, at the Ministry of National Defence in Warsaw. It was the culmination of a long period associated with processes of a ceremonial, prestigious and legal nature, regulated by military regulations and tradition.

The banner is a symbol of honor, loyalty and service to the homeland. Its granting is a proof of recognition of professionalism, dedication and readiness to defend Poland - both in the country and abroad. For a military unit, the banner is one of the most important symbols of identity, honor and tradition of a given military formation. It has a representative, ceremonial and symbolic function...

On Saturday, May 14 this year, in the morning, with the participation of, among others: Deputy Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces Brigadier General Grzegorz Barabieda, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army Brigadier General Krzysztof Zielski, Podkarpackie Voivode Teresa Kubas-Hul, Vice-Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Piotr Pilch (who is the godfather of the Przemyśl brigade banner, and the godmother is the granddaughter of a Home Army soldier Alicja Wnorowska), members of parliament, local government officials, veterans, representatives of uniformed services, and residents of the city, the banner was delivered to its owner – the 20th Przemyśl Territorial Defense Brigade.
