• On November 4th, the Wrocław Medical University announced the death of Professor Barbara Iwańczak.

Prof. Barbara Iwańczak has died, according to the Medical University of Wrocław. The information was published on the university's website on November 4th.

– It is with deep sadness that we inform you that on November 2nd of this year, Prof. Dr. hab. Barbara Iwańczak, head of the 2nd Department and Clinic of Pediatrics, Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Medical University of Wrocław from 2005 to 2019, passed away.

For many years, the professor directed one of the most respected centers in the country for treating digestive system diseases in children. She provided support to patients and their families with passion and commitment. Among other things, she initiated educational meetings for parents of children with inflammatory bowel disease.

As a scientist, she participated in numerous national and international projects; as a supervisor and specialization director, she supported young doctors in their scientific and professional development. She also coordinated pediatric teaching at the Medical University of Warsaw.

– She was passionate about medicine, completely devoted to the clinic and working with young patients, and constantly tried to expand her professional competences – we read in the farewell on the university website.

For her achievements, Professor Barbara Iwańczak was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit and the Medal of the National Education Commission.
