Rally ME: Marczyk third in Rally di Roma, won by Italian Basso
Basso was 3.7 seconds ahead of his compatriot Andrea Mabellini (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2), the Pole was 7.4 seconds behind the winner.
The organizers prepared 13 special stages, the first of which was held on Friday on the streets of the Eternal City, the rest in the Fiuggi and Lazio regions. The special stages were technically difficult, totaling 208 km, including two special stages over 30 km long.
"It's a small dream come true, because I never thought I'd be able to fight with Italian drivers on their home tracks. They are the European champions, after all. I know that it's worth working hard, then dreams come true. It was a good weekend for us," said Marczyk at the finish line.
On Sunday, the Pole won the last special stage of Jenne – Monastero 2, which was the Power Stage, and gained additional points for the FIA ERC general classification.
Marczyk strengthened his position as the leader of the general classification of the European Rally Championship. After five rounds he has 107 points, Mabellini is second with 85. In the ERC3 class, Tymoteusz Abramowski (Ford Fiesta Rally3) won.
The sixth round of the FIA ERC will be the Barum Rally in the Czech Republic on 15-17 August. (PAP)
